Setup

Connected in about five minutes.

No downtime, no porting, no tech skills. Your number keeps working normally the whole time.

1

Open Channels

Head to Channels in your agent, and choose “Connect WhatsApp” — the business number you already use.

2

Sign in with Meta

You're handed to Meta's official screen to sign in with the account that manages your business.

3

Scan the QR

Open WhatsApp Business → Linked devices and scan the code. That's what turns on coexistence.

4

You're live

A green “Connected” badge appears and your agent starts answering new messages instantly.

After you connect

What changes after connecting.

A clear picture of what stays exactly the same — and the few things that change.

Keeps working

1:1 chats

Personal conversations continue as normal. Your message history is mirrored between the app and AssistantLabs.

Contacts

Every contact with a WhatsApp number can be synced. Nothing changes about how your contacts appear.

Business tools

Catalog, orders, status, and other business tools stay fully available in the WhatsApp Business app.

Linked devices

You can re-link up to four companion devices (phone, tablet, etc.) after connecting. Windows and WearOS clients aren't supported.

Changes after connecting

Disappearing messages turned off

Disappearing messages are disabled in all 1:1 chats after connecting.

View Once disabled

View Once messages are disabled in all 1:1 chats.

Live location disabled

Live location sharing is disabled in all 1:1 chats.

Broadcast lists frozen

Existing broadcast lists become read-only. You can't create new ones.

Linked devices disconnected

All linked devices are disconnected when you connect. You can re-link the supported ones right afterward.

Why WhatsApp

Everything WhatsApp can do — done for you.

Answers, bookings, orders, follow-ups, and campaigns — all on the channel your customers actually use.

Instant replies, 24/7

Every message answered in seconds — overnight, on weekends, during the rush. Nobody waits, and no lead slips away while you're busy.

Books appointments

The agent offers open slots and drops confirmed bookings straight into your calendar, mid-chat.

Looks up orders

Connect Shopify, WooCommerce, or Wix and it answers “where's my order?” with live tracking.

Broadcasts & campaigns

Send personalized WhatsApp campaigns to opted-in groups, and schedule them for later.

Follow-ups that bring leads back

When a chat goes quiet, the agent waits, then nudges — on your timing. It stops the second they reply, so you stop losing leads to silence.

Official & secure

Built on the official WhatsApp Business Platform as a Meta Tech Provider. Your number and your customers' data are handled to platform standards — never sold.

WhatsApp pricing

How WhatsApp charges for messages.

Since 1 July 2025, Meta bills per message you send — not per 24-hour conversation. The price depends on the message category and your customer's country, and a lot of messaging is free. Here's what each category is for and when to use it.

Marketing

Promotions, offers, product launches, and win-back campaigns to opted-in contacts. Use it to drive sales and bring people back.

$0.01–$0.14per message · varies by country
Highest costBusiness-initiated

Utility

Updates tied to an action the customer took — order confirmations, receipts, shipping and appointment reminders.

$0.004–$0.05per message · varies by country

Authentication

One-time passcodes and login verification codes that confirm a customer's identity.

Service

Your replies to customers who messaged you first, inside the 24-hour window — support, questions, and help.

A lot of messaging is free
  • Every reply within the 24-hour window after a customer messages you (service).
  • Utility messages you send inside an open customer-service window.
  • All messages for 72 hours after someone taps your click-to-WhatsApp ad or Page button.
These are Meta's WhatsApp Platform fees, charged per delivered message and updated quarterly — the current rate cards took effect 1 July 2026 and vary by country, so check the official rate card for your market. Message us on WhatsApp
Do I keep my current number?
Yes. You connect the exact WhatsApp Business number you already use — no porting, no new SIM, no second app. Customers message the number they always have.
Can I still reply from my phone?
Always. Thanks to coexistence, your phone's WhatsApp Business app and AssistantLabs stay in sync. When you reply by hand, the agent pauses that chat on its own.
Can I use my number on both the app and the API at the same time?
Yes — that's exactly what coexistence enables. The old “a number can only be on the app or the API” rule no longer applies once you connect: your phone's WhatsApp Business app and AssistantLabs run on the same number, together.
Do I need WhatsApp Business or personal?
You need WhatsApp Business (the free green Business app). If you're on personal WhatsApp, you can upgrade in a couple of minutes and keep your chats and contacts.
What version of WhatsApp Business do I need?
The WhatsApp Business app version 2.24.17 or newer, on the phone that holds your number. If you're on an older version, update it from your app store before connecting.
Will I lose my chat history?
No. During setup you can share up to 6 months of chat history so your agent has context from day one. After connecting, new messages stay mirrored between the app and AssistantLabs in real time.
Is there any downtime during setup?
No. Your number works normally the entire time you connect — customers won't notice a thing.
How long does connecting take?
About five minutes for most businesses — up to ten if you're creating a Meta Business account for the first time.
How much do WhatsApp messages cost?
Meta charges per message you send, priced by category and by your customer's country. As a rough guide: marketing is about $0.01–$0.14 per message, utility and authentication are usually 80–90% lower, and service replies (within the 24-hour window) are free. These are Meta's platform fees — separate from your AssistantLabs plan — and are updated quarterly. See the WhatsApp pricing section above and Meta's official rate card for exact numbers.
When are WhatsApp messages free?
Three cases: replies within 24 hours of a customer messaging you (service); utility messages sent inside an open service window; and every message for 72 hours after someone taps your click-to-WhatsApp ad or Facebook Page button.
What's the difference between marketing, utility, and authentication messages?
Marketing is promotional — offers, launches, win-backs — and costs the most. Utility is transactional and tied to something the customer did, like an order update or appointment reminder. Authentication is one-time passcodes and login codes. Utility and authentication cost far less than marketing.
Do messages I send from the phone app count toward my bill?
No. One-to-one messages you send straight from the WhatsApp Business app stay free. Meta's per-message fees apply only to business-initiated template messages (marketing, utility, authentication) sent through AssistantLabs.
Do I need to add a payment method to Meta?
To send business-initiated messages (marketing, utility, authentication) you add a card to your WhatsApp Business Account once, in Meta's WhatsApp Manager (Business Settings → WhatsApp Manager → Payment settings). Meta bills that card for platform usage. Customer-initiated service replies don't require it.
Is it official and secure?
Yes — AssistantLabs is a Meta Tech Provider on the official WhatsApp Business Platform. Your messages are encrypted, compliant, and your data is never sold.
