What you need first
Marketing is one workspace for the whole job. It holds your product profile and unit economics, a living market research profile, several strategies (each part set to Auto or Needs approval), a brand kit and media library, generated on-brand creative, email and WhatsApp templates, scheduled posts to Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, TikTok and LinkedIn, website and blog publishing, messaging campaigns, Instagram comment-to-DM rules, Click-to-WhatsApp ads that shift budget to the winners, and reports against your goals. Once the AssistantLabs plugin is installed in Claude, it can drive all of it with the plugin’s Marketing skill. It starts from your business, not a blank page, so three things come first.
- An agent with your business in it. Marketing imports your business description, services and prices, FAQ and tone from an agent you already built. No agent yet? Start with Get your agent live in 3 weeks; if the import list is empty the app says “No assistants found on your account yet.”
- Marketing switched on for the workspace. It is on or off per workspace, not per person. If you land on the request-access screen it says “Marketing is not on for <workspace>” and lists your other workspaces to switch to. An agency partner turns Marketing on per client as one of the client’s modules.
- Optional: the AssistantLabs plugin in your Claude. For the “With Claude” route, install the plugin first (Connect to Claude; ChatGPT works the same way). Its permissions decide what Claude may do.
Your product profile
The product profile is what you sell, in facts: who you are, your services, your differentiators and what a customer is worth. Everything after this reasons from it.
Ask Claude what is missing, then let it draft the gaps from your website. It can read and patch the profile; the one-time import from your agent stays in the app (see “In the app”).
Read my Marketing product profile. Tell me what is missing for someone who has to write ads and emails for this business: value propositions, prices, who it is for. Then draft the value propositions from my website, in my own words, and show me the changes before you save anything.
Prices and services: they come from your agent’s catalog. Change them there, not in Marketing — the Offerings and FAQs tabs are read-only on purpose.
- Go to marketing.assistantlabs.io and sign in. First time in a workspace, you land on Bring your business in.
- Pick your agent and click Import business. It reads the business profile, services and prices, FAQ and tone, your channels, and detects products and integrations.
- On Meet your marketer. click Review my product profile. You are now on Strategy → Product profile.
- Open the Value props tab and click Set up with my assistant (or the dashed tile Draft value props with my assistant). Say what makes you different; approve what it proposes.
- Open Economics and fill the six inputs. The page derives the rest.
The six Economics inputs, with their real labels:
- Average sale value and Gross margin — what one sale brings and keeps.
- Purchases / year and Years retained — how often and for how long a customer buys.
- Chat → customer — the share of chats that become customers. Payback divisor is pre-set.
- The page derives Customer LTV, Margin / customer, Target CAC, Break-even and Allowed cost / chat. The strategy reads them for its budget checks.
No numbers yet? Leave them blank rather than guess. A guessed margin makes every budget check wrong in a way that looks right.
Research your market
Research is a living list of four things: competitors, trends, audiences and channels. You label what matters, and the strategy treats your labels as guidance.
Claude does the looking itself, with whatever it can look up, and saves each finding into the same Research tab the app uses. The app’s own one-click scan is a button in the app, not something Claude triggers.
Read my product profile first. Then research my market and save what you find to my Marketing research profile: the five competitors closest to us (what they sell, how they win, where they are weak), two trends worth acting on this month, the two audiences most likely to buy, and the one channel to test first. Include the source for each. Label the most important ones as Key.
- From the profile’s first-run banner click Continue to research, or open Strategy → Research.
- On Let’s learn your market click Run my first research. It takes about a minute.
- Click through the four tabs: Competitors · Trends · Audiences · Channels. Each card shows a take and a source link.
- Click the label on a card and pick one: Key, Opportunity, Threat, Testing, Proven, Watching or Ignore. Delete what is wrong with the trash icon.
- Want more? Click Find more competitors (or Research something new) and tell the agent what to look for.
Write a strategy
A strategy is the plan your marketing runs against: goals, audience, channels and a budget. Each of the four parts is set to Auto or Needs approval, so you decide what runs without you.
Create a Marketing strategy called "Spring 2026". Use my product profile and research. Draft: one objective with a number (new customers this quarter), one KPI per funnel stage, two audience groups with a message angle each, the channels we should be on, and an ad budget cap of ₪1,500 a month. Show me the objective and the budget before you save them. Leave every part on "needs approval".
You can keep several strategies (a quarter, a launch, a segment). Inside one, Campaigns are time-boxed pushes with a window, a budget cap, phases and the experiments that test your angles; Claude saves them with save_strategy_campaign and save_campaign_experiment.
set_strategy_section_autonomy) only when you say so in those words.- Open Strategy and click New strategy. Name it and click Create strategy.
- In Goals & KPIs write the Objective and New customers targeted, then Add KPI (Stage, Metric, Target).
- Fill Audience & positioning, Channels & funnel and Ad-portfolio budget (caps, tiers, scale and kill rules). Each field saves when you leave it.
- Top right of each part, click the chip to flip Needs approval ⇄ Auto. Leave them on Needs approval until you have watched it work.
Have a brief already? On Home, click Build everything from a brief, paste it and click Build my campaign. It works through research, economics, strategy and the campaign step by step and shows each plan for your approval before it saves.
The strategist chat itself sits on the Campaigns page of a strategy (Plan a campaign); the section editors above are filled by hand.
Connect your social accounts
A post is written once and published to every account you connect: Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, TikTok and LinkedIn. Start with the ones your agent already uses; they need no second sign-in.
Which social accounts can I publish to from Marketing? Add the Facebook Page and Instagram account my agent already has. For YouTube or TikTok, give me the link to connect.
- Open Settings, then Social channels (under Connections).
- Under Already connected to your agent, click Add on each account you want.
- Anything missing: under Connect an account click Connect Facebook, Connect Instagram, Connect YouTube, Connect TikTok or Connect LinkedIn and sign in. One Facebook login covers every Page you administer and the Instagram account linked to each; untick what you don’t want.
Set your brand and templates
Studio is where Marketing gets its look: a brand kit (logo, colours, fonts, imagery style, voice), a media library, and designed email and WhatsApp templates. Emails and creative take their colours and logo from the brand kit, so you set them once.
Show me my brand kit. Set the tagline and voice from my website, put my logo in from this link, and tell me what is missing. Then create a "Spring sale" email template from the sale starter in my brand and show me the subject line before saving.
- Open Studio. Its sections are Media library, Branding, Email templates and WhatsApp templates.
- In Branding set the tagline, then Logo, Color, Typography (heading and body font), Imagery (the look of your pictures) and Voice.
- In Media library upload pictures and tag them, so a post or an ad can reuse them.
- In Email templates start from a ready-made one and edit it; WhatsApp templates opens the shared template builder for messages Meta approves.
Publish a first post
Publishing a post is the first thing the public sees, so it is split in two: a draft, then the moment it goes out. Write the draft freely; the second half is yours.
Write one post announcing our new spring collection. Use my brand voice from the brand kit and my product profile. Pick the best picture from my media library. Save it as a draft and show me the caption and the picture before anything is published.
Happy with it? Say “publish it to Facebook and Instagram”. Claude calls publish_post only if the plugin’s Publish a post permission is on. Without that, it tells you the draft is ready and you press Publish yourself in the app, which is a perfectly good way to run your first one.
After publishing it reports per account — a mixed result is normal (some took it, one didn’t). retry_failed_channels retries only the failed ones, and is still a publish, so it asks again.
- Set your look first: Studio → Branding for logo, colours and voice, and Studio → Media library for your pictures.
- Open Social → Posts and click New post.
- Write the Caption once. Add hashtags if you want, and a picture with Add image (or a video link, needed for YouTube and TikTok).
- Under Publish to tick the accounts. Different wording here lets you change the text for one network.
- Click Save draft, or Publish to N to send it now.
Don’t want it out now? Pick a date and time in the composer and the post goes out by itself, to every account you ticked. The same post can also go to your website or blog: tick it under Publish to, or ask Claude to publish it as a page or an article.
Send a first campaign
A campaign is a short journey: a message, a wait, maybe a check on who read it, another message. Each message is an email (through your agent’s email channel) or a WhatsApp template, and you can mix them. The app calls the tab Messaging.
Create a messaging campaign called "Spring sale" for my customers who agreed to marketing: first a WhatsApp message with one of my approved templates, then two days later an email to whoever did not read it. Tell me how many people it reaches on each channel and what, if anything, stops it launching. Send the test to me only. Do not launch.
Launching is immediate. Everyone in the audience is enrolled and the first message leaves at once; a wait belongs on a step. launch_email_campaign needs the plugin’s Send marketing email permission; or press Launch yourself on the campaign page.Afterwards ask “who read it, who clicked, and what did the people who replied say?” (get_email_campaign, list_email_campaign_recipients). Email opens are approximate; WhatsApp reads need read receipts on; clicks and replies are exact.
- Open Messaging. Top of the page shows whether your agent’s email channel and WhatsApp number can send.
- Under Start from a ready-made journey pick one: WhatsApp, then email, One WhatsApp message, One email, Email + reminder or Three-email series. It opens in the builder with its messages laid out.
- Fill each message: an email starts from a template (Studio → Email templates), a WhatsApp step from one of your approved templates.
- In Who gets it tick Contacts, add + label to narrow it, and tick Only contacts who agreed to marketing. The headline number is your audience.
- Send yourself a test of each step, then click Launch.
A list nobody agreed to is not an audience. When you are unsure, keep the consent box ticked and accept the smaller number. On WhatsApp, numbers that block or report a business get its account limited.
Answer Instagram comments with a DM
A rule watches comments on your Instagram posts and answers: a short reply under the comment and a DM with the link. The classic one: someone comments “guide” and receives the guide.
Check that Instagram comments are reaching us. Look at the real comments on my last posts, then create an automation: when someone comments "guide" or "link" on my latest post, reply under the comment and DM them the link to https://example.com/guide. Dry-run it on three real comments. Save it switched OFF.
- Open Social → Automations and click New automation.
- Set Name, the Instagram account and On which posts.
- Under And what they wrote add the words that trigger it (people write “guide pls”, “GUIDE!!” and your own language, so add variants).
- Tick Reply under their comment and write it; tick Send them a DM, write the message and add up to 3 buttons.
- Under How often keep Only once per person, ever. Use Try it to type a sample comment.
- Leave Turn it on when I save unticked until the test looks right. Watch Activity afterwards.
Run a first ad
Ads here are small Meta ads, usually one that opens a WhatsApp chat with you. You fill a form (or ask Claude to), it is created paused, and spending starts only when you activate it.
Draft a Click-to-WhatsApp ad for the spring collection. Daily budget ₪20, women 25–45 within Israel, interests related to handmade gifts. Check my strategy’s budget rules first and stay inside them. Save it as a draft. Do not launch it.
Three states, and Claude should say which one an ad is in: draft (only here), launched (on Meta, paused), active (spending). launch_ad creates it on Meta paused. activate_ad is the spend, and needs the plugin’s Spend on ads permission; the yes should name the money, like “Switch on ‘Spring’ at ₪20 a day until you pause it?”. pause_ad is never gated: pause first, explain later.
- Open Ads and click Connect Meta Ads (or Settings → Meta Ads). Sign in with Facebook and pick the ad account, the Page and the WhatsApp number.
- Click New ad. Give it an Ad name.
- Under Budget & audience click Suggest for me, or set Daily budget, Country, Age min, Age max and Interests yourself.
- Add the Image (a link, or pick from Studio), Primary text, an optional Headline, the WhatsApp number and an optional Prefilled message.
- Click Save draft, or Launch (paused) to create it on Meta. On the ad’s card, Activate starts spending and Pause stops it.
Start small. The ad page’s own guidance is a few shekels a day for the first ad. Let it run before you judge it, and change one thing at a time.
Read your reports
Reports puts what you did next to what you wanted: leads, spend and cost per lead against the goals in your strategy, plus how posts, campaigns and ads each performed.
How did this week go against my strategy goals? Give me leads, spend and cost per lead, which posts and campaigns did best, and which ads you would scale or cut. Then tell me what you would do next week.
- Open Reports in the top navigation.
- Pick the strategy and the period; read leads, spend and cost per lead against your goals.
- Open a post, campaign or ad to see its own numbers, and what the marketer proposes to repeat or drop.
Your first week
You don’t need all of it on day one. This order puts a real, safe result in front of you quickly, and leaves the money part for last.
- Day 1. Marketing is on for the workspace, the business is imported, three value props and the six economics numbers are in.
- Day 2. Research is run; you labelled the few items that matter as Key and deleted what is wrong.
- Day 3. A strategy with an objective, one KPI and a budget cap, every part on Needs approval.
- Day 4. Social accounts connected; brand kit, a few pictures and an email template in Studio; a first post saved as a draft and read aloud once.
- Day 5. The first post is published. Open Posts and look at what each account actually took.
- Day 6. A first messaging campaign: tested on yourself, consent box ticked, launched to a small label first.
- Day 7. Save an Instagram comment-to-DM rule, dry-run it and switch it on. Read who opened, clicked and replied, and open Reports. Then connect Meta Ads and launch one small ad, paused, with a daily cap.
Common mistakes
- Skipping the product profile. Everything downstream reasons from it. A thin profile gives generic posts and a budget check that means nothing.
- Leaving the audience filter empty. No labels means every contact the campaign can reach. Read the number in Who gets it out loud before you launch.
- Sending WhatsApp without an approved template. A campaign has no 24-hour window to hide behind; with no approved template that says what you want, there is nothing to send. Creating one is a separate job on the agent’s WhatsApp channel and takes Meta time.
- Setting every strategy part to Auto on day one. Auto is for parts you have watched work. Needs approval costs one click and saves a bad surprise.
- Assuming “Draft” means “published”. A post, a campaign and an ad each have a saved state and a live state. Check the status, not the feeling.
- Fixing a wrong colour in a template. Email colours and the logo come from the brand kit, not from each template. Change them once in Studio → Branding and every template follows.
